10 facts because it’s more interesting than cloth diapers 1. When I was 16, I went to Israel with 80 other teenagers and loved it. However, my best friend and I at the time were totally naive and had no idea what was going on and only recently we’ve found out about all the shenanigans our friends got up to without us noticing. 2. My HS best friend and I got into a huge fight over a...

vikax answered your question: Cloth diapering could you be having leaks because they’re not absorbing enough? Maybe you need to strip them? Maybe time to switch diapers? I tested them for absorbancy and they seem to be fine. I could try stripping them just in case, it would be worth doing before buying a different type at least. vikax replied to your post: Cloth diapering forgot to add, I have...

growingupgibbs answered your question: Cloth diapering What type of diaper are you using? I know the new FuzziBunz have separately adjustable waist and legs. We use tots bots easy fit which look like this. The fuzzibunz is what I’m thinking of trying since they have the elastic around the legs and that has always been his problem area with the fit of cloth diapers. We tried a few...

Cloth diapering
We’ve been using cloth diapers for the past 7 months and faced a few challenges with them but overall they have worked great. However, now we are having issues that I’m having trouble fixing so I’m hoping that someone else has a brilliant idea that will solve our problems. We use a one size and it’s got snaps to adjust the rise and velcro at the waist. Miles is currently...

I just ate 6 oreo cookies. I have no self control around them and usually manage by never buying them. Tonight, husband brought them home and the next thing I knew, I had a stomach ache. Why are they so good?

Unpopular opinion
I’m watching Crazy Stupid Love and I don’t get the Ryan Gosling obsession.

Well now I’m curious and have to watch the rest. Maybe I should make a cake today just so I have an excuse to put an episode on.

I just finished the second season of Dr. Who (the reboot) and I am more sad about the ending than I probably should be and it’s making me reluctant to start the third. Between this and Friday Night Lights, I think I have enough TV episodes to last me the next 5 years or so since I watch them while I’m cooking and sometimes I don’t even manage to watch the whole episode at one...

Tumblr mamas-I’m thinking of getting a bundle me for the stroller. Is it worth it? Even though I’ve had him in a hat and jacket with blankets, I’ve worried about him getting cold the last couple of times we went on a walk.

Anonymous asked: Hi Leah! First let me say, I am so incredibly sorry your package still hasnt gotten to you. I sent it a while back and have been out of town for a while, and I had your address written down wrong, so it was returned to me. I have it again now, so I am going to try to get down to the post office as soon as possible, though it might be next week before I make it there. But I promise I'll make...

Days like today remind me, yet again, of how varied opinions are about what should be done. It reminds me of how amazing it is that we have the right to choose and that my choice would not be the same as yours but that neither is wrong. I’m reminded of how big love is despite the worst possible circumstances and how much strength it takes to fight despite odds of essentially zero. It reminds...

Husband and I just watched last night’s Top Chef and Heather is horrible. I wanted her to get kicked off so bad even though I wanted Beverly to stay. I hope she leaves soon because I don’t think I can watch her act that horribly to someone for multiple episodes.

Drunk Story
I’ve got a ton of drunk stories, crossing my fingers Miles takes after his dad when he goes to college and not me, but my favorite is from when I did study abroad in Scotland. My friend and I were heading home from a bar and we decided that we wanted a couple of police cones to decorate our flat. We grabbed a couple without noticing that there were actually police around and they asked for...

This is a bit TMI but I’ve started taking a bunch of supplements to try and alleviate my migraines and daily headaches. One of them, I’m not sure which, turns my pee highlighter yellow. Blue was always my favorite highlighter, I wonder which supplement I’d have to take to make that work.

HEY LANEY: Me, as a parent. →
heylaney: In bullet form. Because me, as a parent, has very limited typing time: It’s much more intuitive than I thought it would be. I’m a “go to the information” type person but all those books I bought? Those posts and articles I bookmarked? They’re gathering literal and figurative dust. Once you… So true, all of it. Said so much better than I could ever say it.

abstractoctopus replied to your post: This corner of the internet is turning into all… I love that he responds to Farsi. I would love to have bilingual kids, but I’d probably have to marry someone who speaks another language fluently because I don’t speak any other languages. I doubt he will be bilingual although I would love to be wrong. His dad speaks Farsi but I only know a couple of...

This corner of the internet is turning into all Miles all the time but that is what my life has turned into so I guess it makes sense. This week has been pretty big for us. He got a tooth, he now high fives when you ask, claps when you tell him to, gives hugs, responds to no and to come here (although he does better when it’s said in farsi) and gives me whatever he’s holding when I ask...

Miles has a grand total of one tooth. I was under the impression that the bottom two came up at the same time but he’s had one tooth for a week and a half and other than the fact that his gums are still swollen, the other isn’t showing any signs of coming in. Part of me is worried that maybe he doesn’t have all his teeth and his is going to grow up a snaggle tooth and part of me,...

vikax replied to your photo: GPOYW: With my niece, Ruby. I’m going to love… isn’t it nice when friends and family have babies right around the same time as you had yours? 2 of our friends had babies about a year after Nat was born. So she’ll always have playmates close in age. I love it. Two of my friends have babies a year older and my sister’s is 6.5 months younger. It’s...

My car has been having some issues, although part of it is the fault of the service team, and has been in the shop three times in the past 3 weeks. I take it in when they open and walk home since Miles is sleeping and it needs to be done early so husband can get to work on time. It hasn’t been a big deal but today it’s 37 degrees out which I realize is warm for some areas in December...

vikax replied to your post: Whenever I see UPS, Fedex or OnTrac drive by, I… after having a baby, it’s just so much freakin’ easier to order things on Amazon. Right? It’s just so much easier to order it online instead of going to a bunch of stores looking for one specific thing. It totally is. I just did a bunch of holiday shopping online because the idea of taking Miles to the mall...

Whenever I see UPS, Fedex or OnTrac drive by, I hope they are stopping for me. I think this is part of the reason I order so many things off of Amazon instead of going to the store.

emmysnacks replied to your post: On the menu for Miles this week: roasted… Do you have one of those fancy baby food makers? Do you think they’re worth it? Trying to decide if I really want one, or should take it off of my registry. I do but only because a friend loaned me hers. I don’t think it is worth it if you already have a food processor. A steam basket would also be useful...

I had an unexpected day off this weekend and it was exactly what my soul needed. Time with my favorite boys, lunch with the husband, time with the family and lots of tea and relaxation. Husband and I started putting together a plan for the backyard and how we want to stage it so we can afford to do it. We talked budgets and design ideas and plants and it was so nice to have daylight hours...

I hate watching Carolina lose. That game was heartbreaking and we made enough boneheaded mistakes for it to have easily gone the other way. I’m looking at Henson and Strickland and their missed dunks specifically, what the hell was that about? I have faith that this team will improve and we will have a real chance come March but I miss Lawson and Hansbrough every time I watch them play.
