ayearwelllived replied to your post: So they were contractions but they ran some tests… Oh no! I’m glad you & baby are okay and were cleared to go home, but that sounds awful scary :( I hope you can get some relaxation this weekend; I know what you mean about work but baby is priority. Fingers crossed that all goes well @ the dr.! I plan on spending most of the weekend on the couch...

So they were contractions but they ran some tests and chances are really good that I won’t have the baby in the next couple of weeks. They are giving me some drugs to get them to stop and sending me home on modified activity for the weekend. I hate having to call in sick on a holiday weekend when I know we are short staffed but I also don’t want to go into labor so work will have to deal with it....

You know what’s not a fun way to spend new year’s eve? In triage. Hoping everything is ok and that once I get on a monitor that the contractions aren’t as bad as they seem and I’m cleared to do normal things, like walk and go to work.

When I first found out that I had to give Red shots on a regular basis I cried more than I’d like to admit. I was sad that he had been sick off and on for a year even if it was just allergies and I was worried that the shots would bother him and that I would hurt him. I shouldn’t have worried. He gets a treat after every shot so this morning when I came out with the needle, he started...

I’m finding it hard to believe that it is the end of the year. Like every year, I’ve had ups and downs but overall it was a good one. We bought a house, made it a home, found out we were pregnant and now we are making this home into the place where we will raise our child. It’s hard to dwell on the things that went wrong when I can feel this little guy kick and move. It’s...

judiism replied to your photo: Our ridiculously big stroller. Thank goodness we… hmm… that’s not the uppa baby is it? It is and it was a gift from my very generous mother in law. When we went looking at strollers it wasn’t even on my list to look at because it’s a bit on the pricey side but it’s the one that husband liked best, and I thought it was pretty neat too, so...

agirlnamedstewart replied to your post: Husband came home with a gift certificate to… That is so awesome! You totally won the husband lottery! I’m a bit biased but I think I did too. I’ve been thinking about that quite a bit recently because January makes 6 years for us. I was just a baby when I met him and somehow I still managed to make him fall for me, craziness and all....

Husband came home with a gift certificate to anthro for me and he doesn’t even read this. I think he’s psychic. Now I need to decide if I want to get that dress in my pre-pregnancy size or wait to get something until after I have the baby.

My current favorite salad is roasted beets with lemon juice, olive oil, goat cheese and chopped pistachios. Every time I make it, I get sad that I have to share.

yellowonesdontstop replied to your photo:Red with his holiday gift from my mom. She knows… Gorgeous floors! :P Thanks! I love them and they are original to the house but the major drawback to them being so dark is that every little hair shows up and our dog sheds more than seems possible. An hour after I sweep, it looks like I haven’t touched them in a week. Drives me a bit crazy.

I’ve decided that the biggest drawback to reading a series based almost entirely on armies and war is that all my favorite characters keep dying. Also, never thought I would like this series as much as I do but once I get started on a book it is a struggle to put it down. Luckily they are long and there are ten of them so I’m not running out of reading material anytime soon.

Whoever said Braxton Hicks contractions don’t hurt lied. I’ve been having them all morning and now I’m waiting for a nurse from the doctor’s office to get back to me to see if there is a point where I should be concerned. Their idea of getting right back to me and my idea of the same thing are very different.

The only reason I wish we had snow like the rest of the country is so I could watch Red play in it. Snow is his favorite thing ever and the only time he is ever brave. However, I will take my mild seasons any day over an actual winter.

Grilled cheese is so much better with a panini press. When I opened it last night I hugged it like it was a cuddly baby and I think I may go on a grilled sandwich binge.

Sometimes being pregnant sucks, not in the baby way but in the crazy hormones way. Husband worked a half day and we went to lunch where I proceeded to cry multiple times. We started talking about money and budgets and saving for a remodel and when I would try to say something I would just start crying instead. It was less than awesome. The thing is, we do OK. Money is tighter than I would like...

I think I just took my type A tendencies to the next level. I’m wrapping presents and I went to put together the gift for my sister-in-law and I didn’t like how the tops I got her were wrinkled so I steamed them before putting them in their box. I did this knowing that they will be wrinkled when they get taken out of the box a few days ago. Let’s hope that the clothes I got for...

Today is for baking and present wrapping and not leaving the house until tonight when we have tickets to see true grit. Husband is beyond excited to see this movie. He loves westerns and he loves the modern take on them even more, no country for old men and appaloosa and anything along those lines. I’m so happy with my new schedule and all the extra time I have.

nyclust replied to your post: A late dinner of pasta with goat cheese, broccoli… oh this sounds familiar. i’ve decided “because i’m an adult” is also acceptable. ;-) I’m sure that will also be a frequent saying. It used to frustrate me so much as a kid but as an adult, I totally get it now.

A late dinner of pasta with goat cheese, broccoli and lemon constitutes the first real meal I have eaten today. I suck at eating when I’m busy. I will be doing something and tell myself that when I’m done, I need to stop and eat and then something else needs to be done and I forget. I had a cupcake for breakfast, snacked on an oatmeal cookie and ate an apple while I was making brownies...

Tonight
Me: Yeah, but the whole GIVING BIRTH thing...I mean...AMNOTREADY.
Tara: It's just like getting a Brazilian wax.
Me: ...
Tara: It hurts for, like, a minute and then when it's over you have something great!
I asked one of my coworkers how the hell I'm supposed to know I'm in labor. I have a friend who didn't think anything of the contractions she kept having because they were so irregular and then her water broke on her way to her OB check up and she gave birth within an hour of getting to the hospital. Am not ready for the whole labor thing.

We bought a crib today. When we picked it out, husband said it was named after the baby. I guess I know which of the 5 names on the list is his favorite. I can’t believe there is going to be a baby, a baby that we made, in the house in a few short months. I better get my butt in gear if I want to have the nursery ready by then.

This morning I spent hours (an embarrassing amount of them) creating our registry. I had my baby bargains book open, I checked customer reviews and I did price comparisons between sites. I decided to register at 2 different places, one that has an online store only and one that has the option of in store shopping. I had no idea it would take me longer to register for a baby than for our wedding...

I have yet to understand why the republicans feel like they can’t approve health care for the first responders at 9/11. I can’t understand how they can turn their backs on people they bring up time and time again when it benefits them. And the argument that they can’t work after christmas because it is disrespectful, disrespectful to who? I work christmas and new year’s...

fauxprose replied to your photoset: Here we are at 24 weeks. Red dog decided to get in… Look how cute you are! Thanks! simplejulie replied to your photoset: Here we are at 24 weeks. Red dog decided to get in… Sorry about your grandma being a pain. You look gorgeous! Thank you! I need to pick up the living room since the coffee tables are covered with books and mail. Looking at them I can spot 3 cookbooks, 2 library books, and a pregnancy book. We have built in book shelves in the living room, I think I need to work on getting up and putting things away.

I redeemed a groupon for a mani/pedi with paraffin dip and other than being there for a ridiculously long time, it was amazing. I usually have hands that feel almost like sand paper. I wash them probably 50 times a day at work and at least 20 times when not at work because it is such a habit. You should see me cook, it’s pretty hilarious the way I wash my hands between ingredients...

Husband and I have been exchanging emails all morning about the phillies signing Lee. He and Halladay will make a pretty sick rotation, not to mention that the other pitchers they have aren’t half bad. Husband may get annoyed with me because I don’t like football and hate having to watch it but at least there are other sports that I love and follow and can talk about without sounding...
