Today has been close to perfect. I got to sleep in, husband worked from home in the morning and we took the munchkin out to lunch. He is so darn cute when we take him places now, lots of smiles and waving and staring at everyone. He even got us a discount on a piece of furniture for our entryway. He had one meltdown but the rest of the day he was smiling and laughing and enjoying all his new...

Tumblr Buddy! I got the email about the birchbox subscription today and I want to say thank you. You are the best! I can’t wait to get my first box, I’ve heard so many good things about it and I’m so excited to try it. You have made my day!

callmerobin replied to your post: We attended the preview session of the co-op… 1981 was the best year to be born! Glad to hear it went well, though, I take it no one asked you about Christmas I hope haha. I would have died from laughter if someone had. It was normal mom stuff and mostly trying to make sure the babies didn’t hit each other or pull toys down on their heads.

kimcheez replied to your post: We attended the preview session of the co-op… This sounds pretty cool. Is there a general website or anything, curious if there are any down this way. The websites I know are for the specific schools (little hands, little wonders) but they may have links to other co ops or more information.

We attended the preview session of the co-op yesterday and I went ahead and signed up. From now until the end of May, Miles and I will be attending for 2 hrs once a week. I already feel a little out of the loop since the orientation was late last year so all the other parents knew each other and what to expect, there was also an entire playgroup in the class, but everyone was really friendly. It...

For lunch, I had a piece of whole wheat bread with cream cheese and cucumbers and a glass of green juice. That makes up for eating four oreos and a handful of jelly bellies for breakfast, right?

The last four episodes of series 3 of Dr. Who are pretty darn sad. Let’s start Series 4 on a happier note.

I’d like to make friends with other moms since I stay at home during the week and I have a lot of time on my hands. I took Miles to the park this morning and there was one other mom with her toddler there. They eventually made their way over to the swings and we started chatting and she asked if Santa had brought Miles lots of presents for Christmas and my head about exploded. First, it’s the end of January. Aren’t we done with this yet? Second, I don’t celebrate Christmas and I don’t...

I just watched Smash on Amazon and I love it. Thank goodness there is something to replace the gaping musical hole left when I canceled my season pass to Glee on my DVR. I can’t wait for it to be on every week.

kateskute replied to your photo: Loving my most recent purchase. It’s the perfect… what color is it? it looks beautiful! It’s Essie’s turquoise & caicos which is almost the exact same color as Miles’ room. Instead of a magpie that’s attracted to anything that sparkles, I can’t resist anything in the perfect shade of robin’s egg blue.

And looks easy to clean from grubby baby hands :) The easy to clean part definitely figured into our decision. As did the fact that Miles can stand on it and throw himself back, like a trust fall except no one is there to catch him, and not fall off if we don’t grab him in time....

definitelyjennifer replied to your post: I signed up to attend a preview at a nearby co-op… i’m intrigued - off to google co-ops I’m not sure if they all work the same but the few in this area all are run similarly. They are from 6 months (or so) to 3 yrs (or so) and the babies go 1 day a week and the toddlers go two. For Miles, I’d take him one day a week for 2 hrs and...

I signed up to attend a preview at a nearby co-op and if everything goes well, I plan on enrolling Miles. He is at the point where I don’t feel like I’m doing enough to engage him. He is so curious and craves new experiences, I think a new environment and socialization would be good for him. It also wouldn’t be bad for me to spend more time around other adults. However, just...

Miles is asleep and I managed to get a good chunk of my to do list done and I’m debating about whether to start a book. He seems to have a sixth sense and as soon as I get more than a paragraph or two into a book, he wakes up. Maybe if I don’t pick up my kindle he will stay asleep? Or maybe I shouldn’t be so superstitious.

Tomorrow we leave for what was supposed to be a fun weekend in the snow but we haven’t had snow since Thanksgiving. A part of me is very disappointed, watching Red in the snow is one of my life’s great pleasures, but most of me is just excited for a weekend away with my family.

Goals for 2012
I’ve been thinking about this for awhile now and my list comes down to a few basic things. Make Miles laugh more. Have more patience with my family. Focus on the good in my life and stop getting stressed out about every little thing that doesn’t go according to my plans. Spend more time with Red. There are other things I’d like to accomplish but if I manage to do the...

Today was rough and stressful and left me disappointed with my self and my lack of patience. I wanted to sit and cry and feel sorry for myself. Instead, I kissed my baby goodnight and made my go to dinner for when I need to relax, risotto with fried sage and roasted squash. It was absolutely delicious, the best I’ve ever made, and just what I needed to let the stresses of the day fade away....

10 facts because it’s more interesting than cloth diapers 1. When I was 16, I went to Israel with 80 other teenagers and loved it. However, my best friend and I at the time were totally naive and had no idea what was going on and only recently we’ve found out about all the shenanigans our friends got up to without us noticing. 2. My HS best friend and I got into a huge fight over a...

vikax answered your question: Cloth diapering could you be having leaks because they’re not absorbing enough? Maybe you need to strip them? Maybe time to switch diapers? growingupgibbs answered your question: Cloth diapering What type of diaper are you using? I know the new FuzziBunz have separately adjustable waist and legs. We use tots bots easy fit which look like this. The fuzzibunz is what I’m thinking of trying since they have the elastic around the legs and that has always been his problem area with the fit of cloth diapers. We tried a few...

Cloth diapering
We’ve been using cloth diapers for the past 7 months and faced a few challenges with them but overall they have worked great. However, now we are having issues that I’m having trouble fixing so I’m hoping that someone else has a brilliant idea that will solve our problems. We use a one size and it’s got snaps to adjust the rise and velcro at the waist. Miles is currently...
